Cisco Announces Gold Sponsorship for QITCOM 2014

Published May 19, 2014

Cisco announced today that it will be a key sponsor for QITCOM 2014, demonstrating the business- and life-enhancing benefits of the Internet of Everything.

For QITCOM 2014, Qatar’s leading ICT event that is being held from 26-28 May 2014 at the Qatar National Convention Center, Cisco will serve as a Gold Sponsor. QITCOM 2014 features a conference, exhibition, and awards, in support of Qatar’s rapidly-growing ICT sector.

Taking a leading role in global connectivity, Qatar ranks as the top Arab country and No. 23 in the world in the World Economic Forum’s Network Readiness Index 2014, thanks to near-universal Internet access and widespread broadband rollout. In December 2014, Qatar will host ITU Telecom World 2014, one of the world’s largest ICT events.

At a state-of-the-art booth at QITCOM 2014, Cisco will showcase innovative products and services across the fields of the Internet of Everything (IoE), which are connections between people, processes, data, and things that are driving a global market potential of USD 19 trillion over the next decade.

“The Internet of Everything is set to rapidly enhance daily life across Qatar, thanks to the country’s pace-setting ICT infrastructure, and technology-driven global sporting events, megaprojects, and Smart City initiatives,” said Mohammad Hammoudi, General Manager, Cisco Qatar.

“However, for Qatari enterprises to reap the benefits of the Internet of Everything, they need to find and train talented IT staff. Already Qatar hosts a strong educational base to support the next generation of highly-skilled IT professionals, who will drive the country’s connected future,” added Hammoudi.

Cisco’s booth will showcase a wide range of solutions covering the fields of security, data center, software-defined networking, collaboration, mobility, and smart cell.

Exhibiting alongside Cisco at Stand C14 will be Gulf Business Machines, the region’s leading IT solutions provider, as a Cisco Platinum Sponsor; and I4 Solutions, part of MiDiS Group, Qatar’s top IT solutions and services providers, as a Cisco Gold Sponsor.

On 27 May 2014, Hammoudi will host the region’s media to discuss Cisco’s expanding business in Qatar, and how the country’s enterprises can leverage the Internet of Everything.

Cisco recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar’s leading communications company Ooredoo for Smart City, cloud, and managed services. Qatar is making strong progress on the National ICT Plan 2015, driving the knowledge-based economy with Qatar National Vision 2030.

QITCOM 2014 is organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ictQatar), and with the honorary sponsor of the Ministry of the Interior.
