Published May 26, 2014

Cisco is showcasing its growing portfolio for state-of-the-art technology solutions that will help to drive the company’s focus around the Internet of Everything (IoE), at QITCOM 2014.

Cisco defines the IoE as bringing together people, process, data, and things to make networked connections more relevant and valuable than ever before—turning information into actions that create new capabilities, richer experiences, and unprecedented economic opportunity for businesses, individuals, and countries including Qatar.

Demonstrations at Cisco’s stand at QITCOM include:

> The multiple industry leading platforms that form the cornerstone of Cisco’s integrated approach to security
> A Service Provider Wi-Fi demo which shows how easy it is to setup and maintain technology solutions with very low initial costs and ease of management;
> Cisco’s market leading Unified Computing System (UCS) solutions, which are driving companies’ data centers globally today
> Cisco’s highly scalable and flexible mobility platforms that are enabling system wide services for mission-critical wireless networking in medium-sized to large enterprises and campus environments as well
> Cisco’s innovative Video collaboration solutions across multiple endpoints ranging from Mobile devices, to high-end Telepresence/Video Conferencing stations, to desktop phones

“Cisco is very proud that we have been able to showcase our extensive portfolio of the technology solutions at QITCOM today. These solutions are benefiting many individuals and businesses in Qatar by improving healthcare and education, through the democratization of information, allowing for economic growth through electronic commerce, and accelerating business innovation by enabling greater collaboration,” commented Mohammad Hammoudi, General Manager of Cisco in Qatar.

Middle East’s 598 Million Smart Devices and BYOD Transforming Businesses, But Fuelling Complex Security Threats

Like the rest of MENA Qatar’s businesses face unprecedented levels of cyber-attacks, as global security vulnerabilities and threats against systems, applications, and personal networks have reached their highest-ever recorded level. In the rapidly evolving world of security threats, total global threat alerts are increasing 14 percent year-on-year.

In response to today’s advanced malicious and cyber-attacks that are too complex and too sophisticated to be addressed by traditional technologies, Cisco's before/during/after approach to security avoids the problems associated with fragmented security solutions, such as lack of visibility and inconsistent enforcement.

Today, Cisco offers an integrated approach to security and a wide portfolio of solutions to combat the cyber security threats.

Cisco Data Centre Innovations – celebrating five years of success

Five years ago, Cisco launched Unified Computing System (UCS) which today has achieved its success by solving the real business challenges of integrating compute, storage and networking within IT infrastructure. The ability for organisations of all sizes to achieve tangible benefits by reducing total cost of ownership, simplifying management and increasing data centre efficiency are behind the fast adoption of UCS. Cisco continues to help businesses stay a step ahead in the race to innovate. It has a track record of spotting and delivering the next IT revolution, driving business agility and ensuring its customers keep their competitive edge sharp.

Today, Cisco is leading the industry in the next generation of data centre transformation. Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) enables customers to optimise the delivery of critical business applications in real time for every user, on any device. ACI is the catalyst for business success in today’s “application economy”, allowing enterprise networks to adjust to day-to-day business needs seamlessly.

MENA Well Placed to Lead Technological Innovation by Leveraging Smart Devices, Interconnected World of ‘Internet of Everything’ and Faster Mobile Networks

Cisco predicts that the Middle East and Africa (MEA) will post the world’s-fastest mobile data traffic growth rate from 2013-2018. Across MEA, mobile data traffic growth is being driven by the world’s-fastest uptake of Internet Protocol version 6 (Ipv6) -capable smartphones and tablets, with a CAGR of 35 percent, rising from 133 million in 2013 to almost 598 million in 2018.

The growth of mobile data traffic is indicative of mobility becoming a critical characteristic of almost every network experience, and the value consumers and businesses place on it. It is also representative of the immense opportunities ahead for service providers who sit at the center of the Internet of Everything.

Cisco offers a range of highly scalable and flexible mobility platform that enable system wide services for mission-critical wireless networking in medium-sized to large enterprises and campus environments.

Cisco Leading Business Collaboration by Enabling Mobile and Remote Teams to Connect Through a “Better than Being There” Experience

Cisco's vision is to improve collaboration with technology that empowers people to engage and innovate - anywhere, on any device. With Video becoming pervasive, Cisco now boasts a growing video collaboration experience across multiple endpoints ranging from Mobile devices, to high-end Telepresence/Video Conferencing stations, to desktop phones.

Cisco’s latest offering includes new video and collaboration solution designed to put high-quality video at the fingertips of everyone in the organization—in organizations of all sizes. The systems will allow people to effectively share video and content in rooms of any size depending on their needs as well as the setup of the room. These fully integrated systems combine sleek, award-winning designs with a simple and intuitive user experience.

Cisco offers a range of highly scalable and flexible mobility platform that enable system wide services for mission-critical wireless networking in medium-sized to large enterprises, and campus environments.

“The future of technology in Qatar and throughout the Middle East is evolving to enable greater connection of information, people, and things. Cisco is enabling the connection of everything to the Internet, helping the public and private sectors derive value from being connected that will drive the new economy. Cisco is uniquely positioned to partner and develop what is required at the core of the Internet of Everything to take Qatar’s businesses to the next level.” Hammoudi concluded.
