Canon Enhances Home and Office PIXMA Ranges with Five New Models

Published Jun 16, 2014

Canon Middle East bolsters its range of PIXMA single and multifunction printers with the launch of five new models – PIXMA iP8740, iX6840, MX474, MX534, and iP2840. The devices update Canon’s home and office line-up, as well as introduce two new A3+ single-function printers for those with more advanced printing needs. Stylish and easy-to-use, Canon’s range of PIXMA printers has been designed to support users seeking a range of printing options, including photolab quality prints and business documents.

A new addition to the range, the PIXMA iP8740 is ideal for photo enthusiasts looking to step up and print stunning images at home. Featuring a six-ink system, which includes an individual grey ink, the iP8740 produces exceptionally high-quality colour photos and smooth gradations in mono prints. Outstanding detail is possible thanks to minimum 1pl ink droplets and up to 9600dpi print resolution. Printing up to A3+ borderless photos and documents, the iP8740 delivers fast print speeds of ISO ESAT 14.5 ipm for mono and 10.4 ipm for colour, and produces an A3 photo in approximately 2 minutes.

The PIXMA iP8740 boasts a range of connectivity features, with Wi-Fi, Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint™ support, which makes printing from a variety of devices easy. Furthermore, by downloading the Canon PIXMA Printing Solutions app, users can select photos to be printed in different sizes and on a range of papers, directly from a smartphone or tablet. The iP8740 also features Direct Disc Printing, with a range of templates for disc labels.

High performance home office printing: PIXMA iX6840

Ideal for printing large spread sheets, posters and photos the PIXMA iX6840 replaces the current iX6540 and is a high-performance A3+ printer. With Ethernet and Wi-Fi capability, the iX6840 supports connectivity ideal for both the home and office. The printer is also compatible with Canon’s PIXMA Printing Solutions app, Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint™, to ensure users in home office environments can print from smart devices, such as tablets and smartphones, with ease.

Designed to process high print volumes with ease, the iX6840 produces exceptionally high quality documents with vivid graphics and beautiful photo-lab quality images, thanks to a five-ink system that includes both pigment black and dye colour inks. The iX6840 delivers fast document printing, with speeds of ISO ESAT 14.5 ipm for mono and 10.4 ipm for colour A4 documents. Users can also create posters and business documents with ease with access to Canon’s Solutions Templates software. Supporting the optional PGBK single XXL black cartridge, the iX6840 allows users to print up to approximately 1000 pages¹, increasing productivity and reducing the number of ink tank replacements.

Increased home office productivity: PIXMA MX474 and PIXMA MX534

Offering high productivity and sophisticated software for home office environments, the new PIXMA MX474 and MX534 All-in-One devices incorporate print, copy, scan, and fax functionality. To improve office processes, the new models include multi-page copying and scanning, thanks to a high-speed 30-sheet Automatic Document Feeder, for efficient document archiving. In addition, two-sided printing on the MX534 helps to reduce paper use.

Offering a variety of connected print options, including Canon’s PIXMA Printing Solutions app, Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint™ support, the printers enable users to print wirelessly, whether in the office or whilst on the move, from a tablet or smartphone. In addition, the MX534 provides access to Canon’s PIXMA Cloud Link, allowing users to print photos and documents from cloud services such as Evernote™ and Dropbox™ using their smart devices. The MX474 and MX534 also feature Access Point Mode, which enables wireless printing without the need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

These new models join Canon’s broader small business printer line-up, which also includes Canon laser i-SENSYS devices.

Efficient home printing: PIXMA iP2840

For the home user, Canon is introducing an efficient, compact, single-function printer, the PIXMA iP2840, which replaces the current iP2700, and has been designed specifically for everyday use. It features a sleek and compact design, making it ideal for the space-conscious home user or student looking for a device that will sit neatly on a small desk space. The iP2840 produces quality documents with sharp text as well as high-quality, natural looking photos, thanks to Canon’s FINE cartridge technology, which combines pigment black ink with dye-based inks.

The iP2840 helps home users save energy via an Auto Power Off function, which automatically switches the printer off when it isn’t in use for a set period of time. Auto Power On then conveniently and automatically turns the printer back on when users start printing, while the option of quiet mode helps to significantly reduce operating noise for near silent printing at home.

Cost-effective high-quality printing

All five new PIXMA printers accept XL cartridges which are larger and more cost effective than standard cartridges, allowing users to print more for less. The iX6840 also has an optional XXL pigment black ink tank, which will print up to 1,000 pages of A4 documents without needing to replace the ink². Both the XL and XXL cartridges offer between 30 and 50 per cent cost savings³ per page compared to their standard equivalents.

Creativity at the push of a button

All the new PIXMA printers also include Canon’s flagship software My Image Garden, a one-stop platform that combines all Canon PIXMA software into a single, easy-to-use interface, and ensures effortless navigation between printing and scanning functions.
