WD® To Focus On NAS Storage At GITEX 2014

Published Oct 8, 2014

WD®, a Western Digital company, and world leader in storage solutions, will showcase its pace-setting WD Red™ range of NAS hard drives at GITEX Technology Week 2014. The range consists of the WD Red and WD Red Pro SATA drives, which are designed for use in NAS devices that target SOHOs and medium to large businesses respectively.

“WD is first-to-market with a 6TB capacity for SOHO NAS-specific storage, and with the release of a 5 TB hard drive, we are ideally positioned to address the broad demand for NAS storage across verticals,” said Khwaja Saifudin, Senior Sales Director, Middle East, Africa and India, WD. “Together WD Red and WD Red Pro provide reliable storage in a range of capacities and performance options for consumers and small to large businesses alike.”

WD Red drives are optimised for use in SOHO NAS systems that feature between 1-to-8 drive bays. The drives are available in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch formats and with up to 6TB of capacity (3.5-inch). WD Red Pro, available with up to 4TB of capacity and available only in 3.5-inch form factor, compliments WD Red by addressing the heavier demands of 8-to-16 bay NAS devices, which are designed for medium and large businesses. WD will also showcase its WD Green™ line of cool, quiet and eco-friendly hard drives, which have also received capacity expansion in 5 TB and 6 TB additions for high capacity consumer applications.

“The convergence of rapid content and device growth requires a new storage paradigm that gives consumers complete control over their digital lives. We will continue to highlight our leadership position in the storage business and focus on the WD MyCloud EX4 which gives consumers the freedom to store, share files, stream media and access content anywhere with no monthly fees and can also feel secure in the knowledge that their cloud resides in their own home under their exclusive control.

“WD has been a part of GITEX Technology Week for the past 15 years - we see it as an excellent opportunity to showcase our latest technologies. It’s also a convenient platform that allows us to meet our customers who are otherwise spread across the region,” added Saifudin.

WD will be present as part of Dubai Silicon Oasis at GITEX Technology Week during which WD will also meet its partners and customers from across the region at dedicated meeting rooms at Jumeirah Living.
