Trend Micro Incorporated, a global leader in security software and solutions, has announced a three-year agreement with INTERPOL to help support the international police organization and its 190 member countries with additional knowledge, resources and tactics to decrease cybercrime on a global scale.
“We are proud to support INTERPOL in their vital role combatting cybercrime across the globe,” said Eva Chen, CEO, Trend Micro. “Our partnership with INTERPOL will provide tools, training and human resources to strengthen their team’s capability to fight criminal activity around the world.”
Over the next three years, Trend Micro will share its threat information analysis with INTERPOL officers through its Trend Micro™ Threat Intelligence Service. The goal of this initiative is to investigate, deter and ultimately prevent cybercrimes. This effort will also help to bridge the gap in information-sharing between the public and private sectors.
“As the world’s largest international police organization, INTERPOL has a responsibility to forge partnerships across all sectors to ensure our member countries have access to the tools and resources they need to assist investigators to prevent and solve crimes,” said INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble. “Trend Micro’s strong support for the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation will enable us to leverage their expertise in supporting each of our 190 member countries in their efforts to combat cyber threats,” added the INTERPOL Chief.
Trend Micro will also assist INTERPOL in providing a cybercrime investigation training program to improve techniques and increase capabilities of member countries conducting a growing number of investigations. To support these new initiatives, a Trend Micro security researcher will be onsite at the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore.
Trend Micro products which will be available to INTERPOL for use at the IGCI, and beyond, include OfficeScan™, InterScan™ Web Security and PortalProtect™ to secure portals and endpoints; ScanMail™ Suite and InterScan™ Messaging Security to provide secure communications; and Deep Security™ to protect web-based applications.
This agreement was commemorated during a formal signing ceremony held at the ICGI today. During the INTERPOL-Europol Cybercrime conference 2014 (1 – 3 October), Trend Micro’s CTO, Raimund Genes, will deliver a keynote address, and Robert McArdle from Trend Micro’s forward threat research team will present a case study detailing the application of the company’s technology in cybercrime investigations.
