Fujitsu fi-6400 Document Scanner Brings Cost-Efficient Enterprise-Class Technology to All

Published Feb 18, 2015

The fi Series family of Fujitsu document scanners has a new member with exciting features: the fi-6400 brings high-end enterprise technology to new user groups at affordable cost. Equipped with comprehensive functionality and software for the mid volume production environment, it is an ideal solution for SMEs to introduce a centralised document capture solution. Larger companies can use the Fujitsu fi-6400 for distributed scanning in branch offices. Designed for centralised operation and administration, the fi-6400 boosts scanning productivity by capturing up to 100 sheets per minute (A4, colour, double-sided, 300 dpi) and providing an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) capacity of 500 sheets with enhanced paper handling for paper formats up to A3. The new addition to the fi Series is on show at CeBIT 2015 (16 - 20 March) at the Fujitsu booth in Hall 7, Stand A28.

"In production environments, we see an increasing demand for solutions in the low to mid volume category," said Mike Nelson, Vice President at Fujitsu subsidiary PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. "The Fujitsu fi-6400 is our answer to this trend: a versatile solution which will be equally at home in large enterprises as with small and mid-sized companies."

"Document management and the need for professional scanning solutions are no longer restricted solely to large enterprises," added Klaus Schulz, Manager Product Marketing EMEA at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd. "With the Fujitsu fi-6400 document scanner we are offering SME companies enterprise-class technology at a reasonable cost."

Flexible capture for a variety of document types

The fi-6400 is a versatile high volume scanning solution designed for processing incoming documents and turning paper documents into useful electronic data in order to boost business process management and automation. The scanner can digitise a wide variety of document types, from ultra-thin receipts to thick documents (20-209-g/m2) and accepts documents from A7 to A3 size. Its reliable paper protection function minimises the risk of documents being damaged, even during high speed scanning. Ready to scan in less than 15 seconds, the fi-6400 further increases productivity.

Maximum productivity for information workers

The scanner has been designed with ergonomics in mind; its front loading feeding mechanism and low height compact design means easy operation while loading paper and removing scanned documents. The entire scanning solution is optimised to deliver best image quality through high-end imaging hardware and software. This results in fewer errors and more efficient processing and character recognition while at the same time reducing the time and effort for operation, meaning maximised productivity for operators and information workers.

Designed for seamless integration

The fi-6400 integrates seamlessly into existing scanner environments with other Fujitsu
fi Series scanners by maintaining a consistent operating concept. It comes bundled with an entire software environment: PaperStream IP for image processing and enhancement, PaperStream Capture for optimised batch scanning and Scanner Central Admin for the efficient management of multiple scanners. Identical interfaces and consumables for multiple models reduce maintenance overheads.

The scanner will be available at Fujitsu sales partners starting March 2015. The recommended retail price is 6,495 £ (7,998 €, 11,395 $) plus VAT.
