Rise of Middle East Data Centres Drives adoption of DCIM Solutions to Innovate and Enhance IT operations

Published Apr 29, 2015

The growing demand for digital services, along with the broader adoption of cloud computing, has seen an accelerated increase in the number of new data centres in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. As a result, the value of the data center infrastructure management (DCIM) sector in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region is expected to reach USD 397.1 million in 2017 – up from USD 41.6 million in 2012 - at a compound annual growth rate of 57 per cent, according to a recent report released by MicroMarketMonitor.

“The increase in the number of data centres in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is boosted by the internal and external customers’ demand for better and faster information technology (IT) services to be easily accessible from anywhere at any time. It is also driven by enterprises seeking to save costs and consolidate their data, in addition to the growing demand for private cloud,” said Diyaa Zebian, Regional Director, CA Technologies Middle East and North Africa.

Zebian added: “With the growth of data centres, more and more customers are adopting DCIM solutions - a centralised solution for monitoring power, cooling and environmental factors across data center facilities and IT systems as well as managing the use of space and lifecycle of assets which make up the data center infrastructure – to improve IT services and reduce downtime. In the meantime, customers also want to leverage the solution to maximize value of their data centre investment, while keeping operational expenses in check.”

DCIM as a solution is relatively new in the MENA market. The CA Data Center Infrastructure Management (CA DCIM) solution helps customers prevent downtime with continuous monitoring, intelligent alerting and visibility into data center and IT infrastructure. Customers can visualise and manage space and capacity so that they can better plan and optimize their data centre operations.

Recognised for its completeness of vision and ability to execute on current and anticipated customer requirements, industry analysts, Gartner, recently ositioned CA Technologies as a "Leader" in the Magic Quadrant for DCIM Tools.
