Samsung LED TVs Lead Innovation, Quality And Sales In Middle East

Published Oct 26, 2009
Samsung Electronics, the global leader in consumer electronics, announced today that the recent launch of LED TVs in Dubai has boosted its market share in the region to 35 percent, a 5 percent growth within the first six months. Launching innovative series like LED TVs is a key strategy for Samsung to continue to lead the consumer technology industry in 2009.

“When we launched LED TVs in May 2009 we were faced with a lot of doubt from the industry, with people asking why we would want to launch a high end product this year,” said Ram Modak, General Manager, AV division, Samsung Gulf Electronics. “However despite economic uncertainty, our TV sales keep growing and we attribute this to the innovative features of the LED TVs. Consumers are still spending; its just they are now looking for a reason to buy – they are looking for the latest innovative technology.”

The new LED technology was a result of a strong emphasis Samsung placed on its research and development with the aim of providing consumers with a state-of-the-art product. “Samsung allocates five to six percent of its annual turnover to research, and in the last two years alone, Samsung appropriated $6.2 billion for research spending. Additionally $1 billion was earmarked for LED-chip development that paved the way for LED HDTVs,” added Modak.

With the introduction of its new 2009 lineup of LCD flat panel TVs, Samsung seeks to continue the company’s tradition of industry-leading LCD technology and design excellence, while also stepping into uncharted territory with new features and advanced picture solutions.

In addition to their great looks and the rich image quality they produce, the LED TVs are a multimedia device, which offers a host of functions, like internet, browsing videos, sharing photos and interacting with friends. On top of these, LED TVs are equipped with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), a wireless connection in which digital content such as photos, music, and videos can be shared through various consumer electronics.

“At the heart of Samsung Electronics LED TVs success is not only our relentless pursuit of innovation but also our ability to imbue the product with what consumers really want – an experience that is engaging and emotionally satisfying. It is this philosophy of digital humanism that sets us apart and will continue to fuel our growth, innovation and leadership,” said Modak.
