The Arabian Gulf's Security Market Is Valued At US$ 1 Billion With Annual Growth At 10%

Published Oct 27, 2009
The Arabian Gulf is one of the most exciting markets in the world for the security industry. Its security market is worth AED 3.6 billion (US$ 1 billion), projected to grow at 10% annually, offering security, police, fire, military, rescue and safety companies an outstanding opportunity.

Ms. Elisabeth Brehl, Managing Director of Epoc Messe Frankfurt GmbH, organisers of the Intersec trade fair and conference, said, “Exhibitors participating at Intersec are aware of the opportunities that the region has to offer, this is evident with the growth of the show, year on year. The international interest in the exhibition has expanded remarkably over the years.”

Intersec trade fair and conference is scheduled to take place from January 17 to 19, 2010, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The growing expertise of the event, as a result of working with experienced international suppliers, is underpinning the development of both the security and safety sectors across the region. It is also recognised that fire safety as a discipline has much development work ahead of it in most of the Middle East - which is why consultancy and training services are in strong demand.

“It is projected that within the next few years more than 60,000 buildings and assets in Dubai alone will be fully installed with direct alarm systems. Alarm system installation will be a mandatory requirement by law, to ensure and enhance the security of the city,” said Ms. Brehl.

She further remarked that, “Commercial Security represents the largest show segment of the Intersec trade fair and conference, showcasing the most advanced products, services and technologies by key global players.”

The demand for sophisticated closed circuit TV cameras (CCTV) is growing at a rapid pace in this part of the world. This is evident from the fact that the recently launched Dubai Metro has 3,000 CCTV cameras mounted, to monitor the 74 kilometers of rail tracks and the 29 stations. CCTVs are a crucial element in securing buildings, banks, ports and airports.

A number of exhibitors will be featuring the latest technology in CCTV cameras, in the Commercial Security section of the Intersec trade show.

With the building of the Dubai Metro project; pivotal topics related to emergency response, disaster preparedness, safety and security equipment have been highlighted. International suppliers of security related equipment and services will be displaying the most advanced trends in these areas.

Leading global and local companies which have confirmed their participation include, Honeywell, Bosch, Norbain, Lenel, IDteck, Dedicated Micros, Genetec, Infinova, Axis Communications, Smith Detections, Kaba, CAME, Panasonic, Zahra, Sony, Secutronic and G4S, to name a few.

Intersec trade fair and conference plays a major role in reflecting the security industry worldwide. The exhibition and conference, is the largest in the MENA region for the safety and security industry, combining a huge international profile, with a strong regional impact.

The 12th edition of Intersec trade fair and conference in 2010 is projected to be a huge success, with more than 700 exhibitors from 50 countries and over 17,000 trade visitors from 95 countries.
