Panasonic to Provide More than 100 High Brightness Projectors for Rio Olympic Ceremonies

Published Jul 26, 2016

Technology leader Panasonic will be providing at least 110 units of PT-DZ21K2 series projectors and other AV equipment for the Rio Olympic Games. A long term partner for the Olympic Games, Panasonic has become the ‘Official Ceremony Partner’ for the first time at Rio Olympics. Panasonic will use the high-tech projectors to provide turnkey visual operations during the opening and closing ceremonies.

The PT-DZ21K2 is an impressive 20,000-lumen projector that has been designed to work in multiple broadcast environments alongside LED screen display systems, and professional sound systems, making it an ideal choice for large-scale events. It features a multi-screen support system that seamlessly connects multiple projections. The PT-DZ21K2 is well known for creating the largest projected image at the Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light". Over 100 projectors created a 19,099 sqm image on to a group of Ministry of Defense buildings during the festival in 2015.

Yasuo Yamasaki - Director, System Solutions and Communications Division, PMMAF commented, “Panasonic has been contributing to the Olympic Games with its cutting-edge AV technology for more than a quarter of a century. The PT-DZ21K2 is a powerful projector, which features Active 3D projection capability and Panasonic’s technology that reduces motion blur. As Official Ceremony Partner at Rio Olympic Games 2016, we will be providing turn-key visual solutions including full system design, projection mapping, and technical operations to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Ceremonies.”

Panasonic will work closely with the Rio Olympic Ceremonies Department and the production company CC2016 (Ceremony Cariocas) and provide LED Large Screen Display Systems, Professional Sound Systems, Broadcasting Equipment, AV Security Camera Systems, and TVs. Panasonic's P2HD broadcast camera system has already been chosen as the recording equipment for Rio Olympic Games 2016. The company will deliver large numbers of broadcasting equipment such as the AJ-PX5000G camera recorder featuring AVC-ULTRA codecs.

Panasonic equipment like the PT-DZ21K2 and other latest visual solutions, being used at the Rio Games were showcased at the Panasonic Visual Solution Seminar recently held in Dubai for the Japanese manufacturer’s partners, customers, and AV industry players. Other featured products including the PT-RQ13KE 4K Laser projector; PT-RZ12KE WUXGA, 3-Chip Laser Projector; PT-RZ970E 1-Chip Laser Projector; and PT-RZ570BE 1-Chip Laser Projector, were also on display.

In UAE, all Panasonic products, services & solutions are provided through Al Futtaim Panatech.
