Huawei Receives “Positive” Vendor Rating From Gartner

Published Oct 28, 2009
Huawei has been awarded an overall rating of “positive” in Gartner’s September 2009 vendor report, for its ability to provide innovative and rapidly developed network infrastructure solutions for communications service providers (CSPs), significant investment in R&D, and expanding geographic reach. Huawei received a “strong positive” rating for its optical transport offering, and “positive” ratings for its company strategy, financial viability, technical prowess and approach to marketing, as well as for specific product portfolios including wireless, core networks, broadband and routers and switches.

Company Strategy: “Positive”

• International expansion: International contracts account for 75 percent of sales
• Green solutions: Reduce network site footprints and optimize supply chain management for sustainability, using one of the world’s most sophisticated logistics systems

Financial Viability: “Positive”

• “Outstanding” revenue growth: Increased in 2008 by 48 percent over 2007, to USD $18.3 billion.

• Operating profit margins: Improved from 10 percent in 2007 to 13 percent in 2008.

• Contract sales: Expected to grow by 30 percent in 2009, to nearly $30 billion.

Products & Services: “Positive”

• Positive reaction to SingleRAN solution, a unified concept that enables operator customers to leverage their investments long term and reduce the total cost of ownership.

• Positive reaction to cost-effective, “one box” solution to network core requirements for switching, wireless and wireline, that should enable fixed-mobile convergence and offer CSPs an easy migration path to protect investments.

“With our vision to enrich people's life through communications, Huawei is committed to bringing excellent services and innovative technologies to the world. We are extremely delighted to receive a “strong positive” rating by Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company " said Ihab Ghattas, Assistant President, Middle East Region, Huawei Technologies.

"This ranking positions Huawei as a reliable and innovative telecommunications and networking vendor in the region that offers a wide range of solutions to satisfy our customers' needs. Huawei will continue to focus on customer and market requirements to deliver excellence to the telecom industry around the world", added Ghattas.
