Infoblox Service Provider Grade DDI Solution Achieves VMware Ready Status for Network Functions Virtualization

Published Aug 28, 2016

Infoblox Inc., the network control company, today announced that its Infoblox DDI platform has attained VMware Ready™ status for network functions virtualization (NFV), certifying interoperability with the complete VMware vCloud® NFV platform. Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IP address management) is certified with VMware’s industry-leading virtualized compute, networking, and storage solution as well as both of VMware’s virtual infrastructure managers—VMware vCloud Director® and VMware Integrated OpenStack. This designation indicates Infoblox DDI with support for NFV has achieved VMware’s highest level of endorsement, and is now included in the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).

“Service providers are broadly adopting network virtualization, and are looking for Infoblox to deliver the same level of carrier-grade core network services they’ve come to expect in their traditional networks, so they can move to NFV without skipping a beat,” said Dilip Pillaipakam, vice president of service provider products at Infoblox. “Achieving VMware Ready status demonstrates that our DDI platform interoperates seamlessly with the VMware vCloud NFV platform. Our DDI platform delivered on VMware NFV infrastructure will support service providers in delivering a safe, reliable, and fast first-connection impression to their subscribers, while also significantly reducing network operating expenses.”

NFV replaces dedicated networking hardware with virtual appliances, offering the promise of simplified operations, elastic scalability, and lower cost. Whether service providers are fully virtualized or in the process of transformation, they can’t achieve NFV’s full potential without a DDI platform that is robust, expandable, and easy to manage. Infoblox Actionable Network Intelligence turns the network into a business asset by making it simple and fast to commission and de-commission NFV instances while maintaining security for core network infrastructure and delivering insights that support next-generation services. Leveraging the VMware vCloud NFV platform, Infoblox delivers a hardened, proven solution that provides mission-critical functionality while reducing business and operational risk during the transition to NFV and software-defined networking (SDN).

“Communications service providers need confidence in the solutions they are choosing as they move to network functions virtualization,” said Gabriele Di Piazza, vice president of solutions, Telco NFV Group, at VMware. “Through the VMware Ready program, and our testing and validation of solutions from partners such as Infoblox, we are removing interoperability as a barrier to NFV success. Our mutual customers can now move forward with NFV adoption knowing that Infoblox DDI has been rigorously tested to work within VMware environments.”

The VMware Ready program makes it easy for customers to identify partner products certified to work with VMware infrastructure. Customers can use these products and solutions to help lower project risks and realize cost savings over custom built solutions. With thousands of members worldwide, the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program includes best-of-breed technology partners with the shared commitment to bringing the best expertise and business solution for each unique customer need.
