Qualcomm Showcases HSPA+ AS The 3G Technology To Drive Emerging Market Growth

Published Oct 28, 2009
Qualcomm is set to present a technical session at North Africa Com in Egypt this week. Moheb Ramsis, Business Development Director for North Africa at Qualcomm, will speak to an audience of operators, regulators and vendors on the evolution of 3G technology in emerging markets.

Governments and regulators in North Africa are focusing on enhancing broadband penetration in the region, recognising that investment in telecommunications is a key factor in economic growth. According to some industry projections, mobile subscriptions in North Africa will exceed 121 million by 2012, a 40% increase from the end-2007 figure of 86 million. North Africa accounts for around one-third of total mobile subscriptions in Africa, and is recognized as a leading market for innovation and development in the region.

In his presentation, Moheb will discuss the various flavours of 3G technology and explain the benefits they can bring to North Africa’s population, focusing on HSPA+ and its benefits for users and operators.
