Published Oct 16, 2016

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and UAE-based digital payments provider Trriple are opening up more channels for customers to top up their Nol Cards. Customers will be able to top up at over 20,000 UAE merchants through the Trriple mWallet app network.

“Being able to top up Nol Cards through additional neighborhood merchants and mobile apps delivers better convenience to RTA’s customers. This would help make it easier for people to top up their Nol cards, and replace cash with instant and secure digital payments, in line with the UAE’s smart government goals to enhance costs and efficiency,” said Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of Automated Collection System, Roads and Transport Authority.

Cash currently makes up the majority of top ups. Currently, there are more than 7 million Nol Card holders, and transit experts expect many more to sign up in the coming months with these more convenient, easy and secure options.

The monthly bus riders are key targets, as many may not live near metro stations to top up. Soon they will be able to check their balance or top up at merchants near their homes or work places through Trriple network.

“This initiative demonstrates how public-private partnerships driving transportation and financial innovation. Trriple is committed to using mWallets and NFC technology to deliver secure and convenient payments that will help the government, merchants, and people save time and money, and move towards a modern cashless society,” said Abdirizak Ibrahim Salah, Co-Founder, Trriple.

Following on last year’s brand launch at GITEX, Trriple delivers the customer and merchant apps with the highlight of this year’s participation being the Nol Card top up. Visit Trriple’s stand in Hall 6 to experience hourly demos of the next generation mobile wallet.
