There was a constant stream of trade visitors at the Kodak Alaris booth, who were given a demo of the latest scanner technology innovations. The company unveiled the Kodak i5850S Scanner, its new high-volume production scanner that offers three-pocket sorting capabilities, designed for the extreme scanning demands of service bureaus, business process outsourcing organizations and corporate scanning departments. Also showcased, was the company’s new robust, compact and highly affordable i3300 Scanner, enabling organizations to go paperless and scan a variety of document types in a fast and reliable way. There was a lot of interest around the KODAK Info Input Solution, a web-based and mobile capture application, designed to help businesses simplify document capture so that information can be intelligently used in a business process.
Kodak Alaris also hosted a ‘Breakfast Briefing’ on the 17th of October for a select group of CIOs from the financial industry. Emma Isichei, Worldwide Category Director, Capture Solutions at Kodak Alaris provided insights into how CIOs can turn data chaos into value through digital transformation.
Some of the highlights of the discussion are below:
‘Businesses need to focus on managing the data and information.
However, to do this, four core problems need to be addressed[1].
1. The first one is engagement. With information flowing from all around the business, both inside and outside, businesses need to consider their customers, employees and partners and understand how they can best capture information and deliver it where required, in a secure and effective manner.
2. Next is automation. Organizations need to consider how their processes are automated in order to get information to the right place fast and accurately. This is important, as the digital native (a growing percentage of the population within the GCC) wants a response quickly. In addition, if decisions are delayed because information is unavailable, this may impact the bottom line and can result in stiff regulatory and compliance consequences. It is vital that information capture is automated and processed across the business in a unified fashion, not in silos. This can create a tremendous competitive advantage.
3. Third is Insight. Data is really only valuable if you can translate it into actionable insights. An information management solution needs to be implemented to capture & consolidate data, extract valuable insights and deliver the right information to the right people.
4. Last but not least, risk management. Compliance with regulations is vital, and as information increases across a business, the CIO needs to consider where, what and how data flows through the organization.
“We are happy to have had a number of conversations with regional CIOs and IT managers at GITEX where we shared unique insights into information management best practices and also gained an understanding of their pain points, which helps us design better solutions. We received a lot of genuine interest in our entire portfolio of hardware, software and services and it has indeed been another successful event for the company,” concludes Mr. David Whitton, regional sales director for Middle East and Africa at Kodak Alaris.
