Digital Guardian Announces Strategic OEM Agreement with Boldon James

Published Jan 9, 2017

Digital Guardian, a next generation data protection platform purpose built to stop data theft, recently announced an OEM partnership with QinetiQ’s data security company Boldon James, a leading provider of User-Driven Data Classification and Secure Messaging solutions. The OEM partnership has allowed Digital Guardian to integrate Boldon James Classifier Foundation Suite and CAD Classifier into version 7.3 of their data protection platform to enable user-driven data classification. By combining user classification with Digital Guardian’s context and content based classification, the company now offers the most complete data classification solution on the market today.

While there are many unknowns about the threat actors in today’s cyber security environment, there is one thing security practitioners know very well – the goal of their attacks is to steal sensitive business and personal data. A foundational element required to safeguard sensitive data is the ability to understand its value and apply a classification to match that. The security industry offers essentially three approaches to do data classification – content, context and user-driven – and with the Boldon James OEM agreement, Digital Guardian now provides all three approaches in one unified platform.

“Organizations are responsible for protecting vast amounts of data, both for regulatory requirements and to prevent data theft,” said Ken Levine, president and chief executive officer, Digital Guardian. “We’re pleased to be partnering with Boldon James and proud that our collaboration has resulted in an API level integration that is unmatched by other Boldon James DLP partners and will deliver a higher level of data security for our customers.”

“We are delighted that Digital Guardian has selected Boldon James to deliver a world class data classification capability to its customers.” said Martin Sugden, CEO at Boldon James. “Boldon James continues to be the partner of choice in delivering innovative, specialist data classification solutions to provide our customers with competitive advantage and we’re excited to be included in the Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform.”

In addition to the API integration of Boldon James Classifier Foundation Suite and CAD Classifier, the OEM agreement also makes Digital Guardian an authorized reseller of the following add-on user classification modules from Boldon James:

OWA Classifier (for Outlook Web App 2007 and 2010)
Classifier Mail Add-In for OWA (OWA 2013, 2016 and Office 365)
SharePoint Classifier
Exchange Classifier
Mobile Classifier
