.ART Creates and Launches New Digital Platform With Rhizome For Seven on Seven, as Premier Partner of the 2017 Edition

Published Mar 23, 2017

.ART, the art world’s new top-level domain, announces its support as premier partner of the 9th edition of the celebrated Seven on Seven program, an annual collaboration between Rhizome and New Museum. This year, the conference will expand its digital footprint with sevenonseven.art, a new platform for this much celebrated event, created and launched by .ART – the first and only top-level domain name extension, created specifically for the international art world – in partnership with Rhizome.

The annual event brings together leaders of art and technology, challenging them to build new projects in creative collaboration. On Saturday, April 22, Rhizome will present Seven on Seven at the New Museum—the founding partner of the event and New York City's leading museum dedicated to contemporary art. Tickets to the event will go on sale to the public on March 22, 2017.

.ART and Seven on Seven

To narrate this unique program past and present, .ART has partnered with Rhizome to develop sevenonseven.art, which is now live. This platform features original editorial content, will host the livestream for the 2017 edition, and presents the entire program archive—including restored versions of indelible past creations, beginning with a new web version of S.V.S.: A Play for Bots, created by artist Claire L. Evans & engineer Tracy Chou at the 2016 edition.

“We are delighted to partner with Rhizome and New Museum for the 2017 edition of Seven on Seven, which is one of the most innovative and celebrated moments, marrying art and technology, on the art world calendar. To create and launch the website of record, sevenonseven.art, where past, present and future collaborations by leaders of their industries will be showcased, is a tremendous privilege,” commented Ulvi Kasimov, Founder of .ART

“The Seven on Seven program is entirely unique in the creative contact it forges between artists and technologists working at the highest levels of their fields,” said Zachary Kaplan, Executive Director of Rhizome. “The talent involved in this year’s program is breathtaking. And I’m thrilled that .ART has empowered us to tell their art-tech story better than ever before.”

Seven on Seven 2017 Participants and Details:

Founded by Rhizome in 2010, Seven on Seven forefronts and animates the leading ideas and issues at the intersection of culture and technology through its novel format. Seven leading artists are paired with seven visionary technologists and asked to “make something”: an artwork, a prototype, a provocation—whatever they imagine. What they create in their short time together premieres at a conference event, resonating beyond that day. (Past creations and participants are outlined in the ABOUT SEVEN ON SEVEN section below.)

The 2017 edition features founders of international media organizations, corporate and civic leaders, artists blurring the lines between art and entrepreneurship, and creators pushing new technologies, from WeChat to A.I. to the fabric of the web itself, to their furthest ends.
