Published Sep 6, 2012

Can you talk about any new and important recent product launches?

Simpana 9, was unveiled during the early part of this year. This version has new next-generation Singular Information Management® innovations and capabilities including:
• New Simpana OnePass capability slashes the combined time typically required to backup, archive and report by more than 50 percent over traditional methods with the industry’s first converged backup, archive and reporting process designed to affordably protect, manage and access data on systems that have become “too big”.
• Simpana SnapProtect® technology now delivers the industry’s broadest hardware snapshot integration, providing customers with SAN investment protection and choice, eliminating the backup window, accelerating recovery and reducing costs.
• Simpana software enhancements accelerate virtual server adoption further by helping organizations better manage, protect and scale virtual machines across their enterprises and into the cloud.
• New Simpana Edge Protection protects data on laptops and desktops with embedded source deduplication for optimized efficiency. End users now have flexibility to search, access and perform self-service recovery through any Windows, iOS and/or Android device.
• New Simpana 9 integration with Microsoft SharePoint improves application performance, capacity utilization and shrinks backup windows.

What elements will you be offering in order to make life easier for CIOs?

Part of our Consultative engagement with the Enterprise community is applying the knowledge and experience in the fact finding exercise, in order to help them evaluate and assign the ROI. This may require several days on-site, but the key factor is knowing where and how to look and define the ‘So What’. We now have over 12,000 successful project implementations behind us and the experience we have of knowing what is relevant and what works and what doesn’t is a crucial success factor.

Obviously any worthwhile Vendor has to constantly upgrade his product offering: we all strive to keep ahead of each other and we all have the challenge of ensuring that our products work with and integrate with so many other complimentary technologies and systems. However we also go a step further in helping customers migrate and implement. Hence we provide tools which show our customers how to move away from obsolete and incumbent systems to Commvault. Equally important we also provide and execute the physical installation, implementation i.e. the deployment of the systems. Hence we believe it’s vital that we are a true ‘end to end’ provider, from the initial response and customer engagement right through to and beyond project acceptance.

Equally we are aware that the another by-product of today’s economic climate are different financing options; in particular many CIOs are having the challenge of weighing up capital costs versus operational costs. Hence with our channel partners, we can and do offer an array of different financing options.

What are your growth plans in the Middle East, and what investments will you be making in order to reach these goals?

Commvault has ambitious plans for the region. We will see more investment in people (particularly in both our Sales and Technical Community), which will enable us to invest in enterprise engagement, consultancy, professional services and technical support. We will continue to invest and improve our service and support levels.
