Dubai emerging as top winter holiday choice for Britons
According to online travel deals portal, dealchecker.co.uk, Dubai is increasingly becoming the first choice of Britons for 2012 winter holidays as increasing number of British tourists head to the emirate, Emirates 24-7 has reported. "As Dubai International Airport expands we will see a large number of Brits looking to get away to this stunning city. Dubai is already a popular destination with people looking for a luxurious holiday in the sun, said managing director of dealchecker, Mark Attwell. “We fully expect breaks to Dubai to be as popular as Egypt holidays by the end of 2012.”

Arabian Construction wins hotel refit contract in Cairo
Misr Hotels, a subsidiary of The Holding Company for Tourism, has awarded Arabian Construction Co (ACC) a $90m (Dhs330.3m) contract to convert the 13-storey Nile Hilton in Cairo to the Nile Ritz-Carlton hotel, Gulf News has reported. The renovation project includes interior finishing and mechanical, electrical and plumbing scheduled to be completed in 18 months. The 370-room Nile Hilton is undergoing extensive renovation of its facilities in order to re-emerge as a Ritz-Carlton.

Etihad Airways offering 96-hour UAE visas, no extra charge
Etihad Airways, in cooperation with Radisson Blu hotel on Yas Island, has started offering complimentary 96-hour tourist visas to passengers transiting through the UAE, Gulf News has reported. Eligible guests must have confirmed overnight accommodation at the Radisson Blu Yas Island, available at promotional rates from $70 per person per night, the carrier said.

Jordan-based Dahlan Travels (Dahlan) has announced the signing of an agreement with Bahrain-headquartered Sabre Travel Network Middle East. The deal will see Dahlan travel agents use Sabre Red platform to help increase revenue and offer value-added services to their customers.

US cruise line expects to double Middle East business in 3-5 years
US-based cruise line, Royal Caribbean International has said it expects to more than double its business in the Middle East over the next few years, Gulf News has reported. "Over the next three to five years, we plan to more than double our business in the Middle East, and possibly even triple it," Helen Beck told the daily. Asked if the Arab Spring hit the company's revenues, Beck said it is quite the opposite. "Royal Caribbean suffered no negative impact during the Arab Spring. On the contrary, we recorded a 30% growth in the Middle East in 2011 over the previous year," Beck said.
